video one which was " getting started gs: what is illustrator CS5?" was an introduction to what ILLUSTRATOR is. Illustrator is basically a graphic translator. it allows you to edit your artwork at any time, allowing you to make updates to your project at any time. its size can also be changed, while it will still be change and sharp. file formats can be moved into illustrator. such examples that were given were, PDF's. EPS, and poster files. the program also allows to create cross-media design, which allows you to pick what way your artwork is shown, such as on print, on the web, and even for the phone. it will assist me to create a newsletter by allowing me to create images for the newsletter, such as an illustration for it.
the next video was called " Creating files for print. it explains the features that we use for when we print out files, such as size ( which also gives you paper sizes of other parts of the world". you can set the width and heights, and illustrator will do most of the calculations for you, such as if points are set, and you type 5in, the program will change it for you in point form. it also tell us of bleed, which allows us to expands the color near the corners, so no white area will appear. lastly it explains of advance settings, such as the color mode, and that it should be set to CMYK, raster effects, which is set to high and that certain programs such as shadowing gets used on it., and preview mode, which can be changed depending on how you are printing the paper. it will assist me by showing me how to print out the newsletter in an organized fashion.
